No Systray icon in Ubuntu
Hi, I just installed the VPN and I don't get any tray icon. It seems that this is the same problem as in post #76 and I installed the extension, but still no icon is visible
I am running Ubuntu 18.04
I could add a screenshot, but I don't see how this would help, as it would simply show that there is no icon. I am new to this bug reporting thing, so if you need anything else, let me know. Best

Hey, this is the output I get I did not only take the initial output, as I noticed, that there were some disconnects and re-connects directly after first connecting (for better readability I deleted a ton of libappindicator-WARNING):

The warning is not a problem, is a known issue (#26 (closed)).
I don't see any error related to the systray in the log
Do you see other applications in the systray? Is it possible that you have somehow the systray hidden?

@meskio to be clear here that's lxqt-panel. Window manager is probably a bit irrelevant in this context.

I'm running the riseup-vpn linux snap version downloaded today.
I'm using Manjaro Linux with XFCE and Tint2 panel.
No icon shows on the system tray, just a gap where it should be.
Clicking on the gap brings up the menu and it seems to function correctly.
Another (possibly related issue) is that clicking on the 'About...' menu option kills the application.

Good news the icon is now showing. I'm using Manjaro XFCE (which was updated within the last week) and used the GitHub pkgbuild to build and install.
I'm getting this error today:

Collapse replies @Moorlock I see you are using the
edge
repo where we had published our work in progress, we know it has many issues and we are working on it. Thanks for the report, I don't think I have seeing it before, we'll look into it. Keep tuned as we'll update it soon (I hope). But if you want to fix your problems you can switch to thestable
snap repo.

Is there anyone still having issues with this? If so, it would be helpful to have:
- Distro and version
- VPN package type (probably Snap, but just in case…) and version
- information on desktop environment (at minimum, identifying what's responsible for your system tray)
- ԜаӀtеr Ⅼарсһуnѕkі added Needs Feedback snap labels

@boeuf I can confirm this in Lubuntu, i.e. that the systray icon is the default one (the little gear icon). However, the beta version fixes this. So this should be effectively resolved. If you can confirm, that would be great.

@boeuf - can you check with rev 168, now on the stable channel? It should be fixed.
