@nigra1312 Debian maintainer speaking here -- thanks for your report. Would it be possible for you to check the version available in Buster? It includes the Nautilus extension, so no need to build it yourself if using this version.
it would be possible, if i install buster on my running (really good working) system in exchange. but that's really a lot of work for me as just an end-user. sorry.
@nigra1312 There are other ways to make it possible to keep running stretch, but install this package from buster. Still, IMHO, these might involve some problems with which one would then need to deal. I just wanted to check if this would be a simple thing for you to do, no need to say sorry. Thanks again.
but there is no such file. i just have ~/.local/share/nautilus. so, i didn't copy nothing at all in my not-existing file...but then – don't ask me how – when i tried the context menue in nautilus there is the button "remove metadata".
maybe some leftover from my tries in stretch? i did not make a new install but an upgrade. is the mat2.py in stretch somewhere else?

Yeah, the text of the README is a bit mis-leading: The Debian package ships the Nautilus extension, no need for you to install it manually.
btw: it works really fine with pdf now! thanks.
Great, thanks for the feedback! Closing this issue, therefore.
