disable list owners holding subscribers hostage
sympa has an option that only list owners can unsubscribe folks... it seems like allowing users to signoff should be the polite and expected behavior for a listserv i think the default allows users to unsubscribe, but admins can set it so that only they can do it and i think the ideal thing would be to not allow admins to mess with that. it seems nefarious to allow list users to do that
We can just remove the scenario file to remove the option where only owners can unsubscribe, although we should be careful that if we remove this scenario file we will need to determine what happens to lists that had that option set (do they get reverted to the default? Is that ok?)
In /home/sympa/etc/scenari there are these scenari:
"unsubscribe.anyone", "unsubscribe.anyone_notify" and "unsusbcribe.closed"
the first one allows anyone to unsubscribe, the second is the same, but the list owner gets a notification of the unsubscription... so its probably the unsubscribe.closed one, which seems like it makes it impossible to unsubscribe at all (even list owner?!), based on its contents, which hardly have any information contained therein:
title.gettext impossible true() smtp,md5,smime -> reject(reason='unsub_closed')
Epsas did say this: < epsas> there is a comment in the source code (Shjould not be used anymore) < epsas> micah - $param->{'may_signoff'}
Although I'm not sure what that means.
