backupninja expect GNU versions of certain system utilities -- won't work on FreeBSD
The main backupninja script crashes on [[FreeBSD]] systems because it expects the 'stat' and 'sed' commands to be the GNU standard versions instead of the [[FreeBSD]] versions it finds in the standard places. In order to make backupninja work, on [[FreeBSD]], the following must be done:
- Install the 'gsed' (GNU sed) port or package
- Install [[FreeBSD]] Linux compatibility
- Change all references to /usr/bin/sed in the backupninja script to /usr/local/bin/gsed
- Change all references to stat in the backupninja script to /compat/linux/usr/bin/stat
There are probably similar issues in the individual scripts for each backup scheme; I have not looked at these yet
