fails to load on osx 10.11.6 (el capitan)
so this is the initial error i got when starting riseupvpn first time: "An error has ocurred initializing the VPN: Post http://localhost:7171/firewall/stop: dial tcp [::1]:7171: connect: connection refused"
i raised the problem w riseup support, but they couldn’t help as no one there worked on mac's. they pointed me here.
I did a bit of digging, i tried the following: I saw this issue & thought it might be related: #34 (moved)
I thought that is the "helper" is not unloading upon load that I could try & open it in terminal & see what happens, so i opened the package contents (unix, osx, kind of like linux but not) so I drilled down: Contents > MacOS > bitmask_helper opened that in terminal & got this result: /Applications/RiseupVPN.app/Contents/MacOS/bitmask_helper ; exit; my-mac:~ MyMac$ /Applications/RiseupVPN.app/Contents/MacOS/bitmask_helper ; exit;
I then tried to open: Contents > MacOS > bitmask-vpn again in terminal & got this result: /Applications/RiseupVPN.app/Contents/MacOS/bitmask-vpn ; exit; my-mac:~ MyMac$ /Applications/RiseupVPN.app/Contents/MacOS/bitmask-vpn ; exit; 2019/10/01 09:37:01 Error detecting the system locale: exit status 1 2019/10/01 09:37:01 An error ocurred starting standalone bitmask: Helper returned an error: "exit status 1" 2019/10/01 09:37:01 Error stoping firewall: exit status 1 2019/10/01 09:37:01 Stop firewall: firewall stopped
so I thought I would keep going the next was: the next file to be opened again via terminal was: Resource > openvpn.leap & got this result: /Applications/RiseupVPN.app/Contents/Resources/openvpn.leap ; exit; my-mac:~ MyMac$ /Applications/RiseupVPN.app/Contents/Resources/openvpn.leap ; exit; Usage message not available logout Saving session... ...copying shared history... ...saving history...truncating history files... ...completed. [Process completed]
i thought next it might be permissions, so I changed permissions on the the app from just "wheel" & "system" to include me ie: "MyMac" & "everyone" ie all users. unfortunately this did not work either, i still ended up with the original error: "An error has ocurred initializing the VPN: Post http://localhost:7171/firewall/stop: dial tcp [::1]:7171: connect: connection refused"
does anyone know when it's going wrong?
any help would be great, thanks in advance, regards, sine
