Discuss progressbar vs progressdialog in the login process
Should we use progressbars or progressdialogs in login view?
MeanderingCode says that it feels better to him to use progressdialogs when giving feedback of a blocking process (the user cannot do anything else apart from wait to finish login), and progressbars otherwise.
parmegv says that, according to Dialogs API Guide (http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/dialogs.html):
Avoid ProgressDialog Android includes another dialog class called ProgressDialog that shows a dialog with a progress bar. However, if you need to indicate loading or indeterminate progress, you should instead follow the design guidelines for Progress & Activity and use a ProgressBar in your layout.
parmegv also says that progressbars give the user better feedback, since s/he can see how far the process is to finish. MeanderingCode also likes that kind of feedback.
