What graphics library(es) should we use?
Currently we use two libraries:
They are single propose focused libraries that in each platform they compile to the native graphical libraries. With systray we have contributed a bunch of changes and have a good experience with upstream. For dialog we haven't managed (yet) to upstream all the changes we need to make it work for us, mostly our fault as we haven't figure out how to make them generic enough to work for others.
We have for some time feel a bit limited by the reduced options of those libraries, but manged up to now. But for the LibraryVPN we need to be able to display windows with input boxes, which is not possible with them. Is the right time to rethink our graphic stack and explore what it make sense for us.
Features we are looking for:
- Easy to deploy/compile in windows, OSX and linux. To be able to statically compile it in some platforms will be nice.
- Systray support. Will be nice if there is the posibillity of doing submenus and selected items.
- Notification support. We need to be able to pop up notifications, for things like asking for donations.
- Input forms. For the login of the library patrons.
Some options to evaluate:
