Please contact us if you need halp.').
simon quickly got access because he was bold enough to bug a 0xacab admin privately over IRC, but I wonder if this is the method you prefer.
i have taken the bold step of [documenting an alternative method in the Monkeysign documentation](http://monkeysign.readthedocs.io/en/latest/contributing.html#patches). Basically, I send people to a link in this issue tracker to ease the process for them to ask "fork access". [This is the link](https://0xacab.org/riseup/0xacab/issues/new?issue%5Bassignee_id%5D=&issue%5Btitle=fork%20permission%20request&issue%5Bdescription=I%20need%20permission%20to%20fork%20the%20Monkeysign%20repository%20to%20contribute%20to%20the%20project.%20Please%20grant%20me%20fork%20access.%20Thank%20you.) in case the above doesn't render properly. It should render as an issue with the title "fork permission request" and the body "I need permission to fork the Monkeysign repository to contribute to the project. Please grant me fork access. Thank you."
Is that alright with you guys?
(I was under the impression people would have access to fork repositories here. I understand why completely new projects are not allowed, but I somewhat see forks as being a different kind... I understand if gitlab doesn't allow that kind of fine-grained control, but it feels like a rather strong limitation blocking new contributors that they need to request access before being able to send merge requests...)
Thank you for your consideration and support!https://0xacab.org/riseup/0xacab/-/issues/15consider setting up a shared runner to make CI building easier for users2017-05-18T15:02:11Zmicahconsider setting up a shared runner to make CI building easier for usersAnyone can run a specific runner, which is nice because it doesn't require us to do anything. However, specific runners are limited because if you are not a 'master' level member of a project, you don't get access to the specific runners that are configured for a project. That means that any random person who comes along and wants to do MRs and is not already trusted to be part of the group with those permissions, wont have their MR code built/tested by the CI automatically.
Running a shared runner has some security risks associated with it. So I wanted to consider what is involved and what we can do to mitigate these risks. If we can do that, then it might be worth setting up.
A shared runner should use Tags, according to the [documentation](https://docs.gitlab.com/ce/ci/runners/README.html):
<pre>
You must setup a runner to be able to run all the different types of jobs that it may encounter on the projects it's shared over. This would be problematic for large amounts of projects, if it wasn't for tags.
By tagging a Runner for the types of jobs it can handle, you can make sure shared runners will only run the jobs they are equipped to run.
For instance, at GitLab we have runners tagged with "rails" if they contain the appropriate dependencies to run Rails test suites.
Prevent runner with tags from picking jobs without tags
You can configure a runner to prevent it from picking jobs with tags when the runner does not have tags assigned. This setting is available on each runner in Project Settings > Runners.
</pre>
I'm unsure how much this matters if we can make a docker runner that allows people to install whatever packages are necessary for their build, and then destroys it afterwards...
The documentation also says that "If you can run a build on a runner, you can get access to any code it runs and get the token of the runner. With shared runners, this means that anyone that runs jobs on the runner, can access anyone else's code that runs on the runner. In addition, because you can get access to the runner token, it is possible to create a clone of a runner and submit false builds, for example."
I am unsure if this applies for docker runners that get destroyed after the build. Need to determine this.
If we are to do this, a VM would be created *only* for this purpose, it would not have any other service run on it because it would be considered untrusted.
The options for running shared runners are to run it with docker, shell, or parallels. Since the shell mechanism is insecure, and parallels is proprietary, the only option is docker.
The [runner documentation on security considerations](https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ci-multi-runner/blob/master/docs/security/index.md) says this about docker runners:
<pre>
Docker can be considered safe when run in non-privileged mode. To make such setup more secure it's advised to run jobs as user (non-root) in Docker containers with disabled sudo or dropped SETUID and SETGID capabilities.
On the other hand there's privileged mode which enables full access to host system, permission to mount and umount volumes and run nested containers. It's not advised to run containers in privileged mode.
More granular permissions can be configured in non-privileged mode via the cap_add/cap_drop settings.
</pre>
A docker setup would allow us to have a clean build each time, and allow builds to have some build environment control.micahmicahhttps://0xacab.org/riseup/0xacab/-/issues/14[MINOR] Typo in FAQ on about.0xacab.org2017-03-25T22:11:21Zgeorg[MINOR] Typo in FAQ on about.0xacab.orgThe answer of the second questions reads: "[...] Please contact us if you need halp."The answer of the second questions reads: "[...] Please contact us if you need halp."https://0xacab.org/riseup/0xacab/-/issues/13Cannot edit my avatar with Tor Browser2017-03-25T22:11:21ZemmapeelCannot edit my avatar with Tor BrowserTor Browser don't allow me to edit my avatar.

https://0xacab.org/monkeysphere/monkeysign/issues/4#note_8940
it seems to have been fixed upstream about a week ago:
https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/omnibus-gitlab/issues/1532
i am perfectly happy to wait a while for that fix to come in (heck, there isn't even a release upstream yet with that fix!) - but since we already seem to be running the latest and greatest (8.11.4, 3 days old!), i wonder if there's an automated upgrade in place that i can rely on.
or is that wishful thinking?

irker is well maintained in debian, and has become more stable with time. it requires no server configuration of any kind. it listens, by default, only on the localhost interface, so it should be fairly safe to just fire up `apt install irker`, provided that this host is running jessie or later of course.

The repository I want to move here is the website from CNT-AIT Almería, (live [here](http://www.cntaitalmeria.es/)). We found this a better place to host the repository rather than GitLab because RiseUp defends the idea of self-management, has a Tor URL and we don't want to depend on a company anyway. CNT is a anarchosyndicalist labor union from Spain, AIT is the international: together we are CNT-AIT.
I want the group to be named CNT-Almeria, just as it is [currently in GitLab](https://gitlab.com/CNT-Almeria/web). Maybe we will turn GitLab repo into a mirror.
I will be very grateful if you can enable groups just for my account, as I said I only need one group organization to make 1 repository. I already host my personal repositories in NotABug, so don't worry I won't spam or make a lot of repos.https://0xacab.org/riseup/0xacab/-/issues/32fork permission request2017-09-12T15:24:31ZNick Sfork permission requestI need permission to fork the backupninja repository to contribute to the project.

. Is it possible to create subpages to our pages? Our main page is

. Is it possible to change the name of the filters to search for the

"meetings/ proceeding", "discussion" ..almost according to the different
page-symbols. (but in german)

I'm currently evaluating how to get a code coverage report, created during a CI job, to be published / provided as HTML, to make it easier to use (instead of displaying it in the job output). Support for this was [introduced in GitLab 10.1](https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/issues/34102), but requires [GitLab Pages](https://docs.gitlab.com/ce/administration/pages/).
Any chance of enabling this here at 0xacab?

The website (1) shows support for Ubuntu17 (though I remember seen a few weeks ago also info for Ubuntu18 there, and tried, but it did not work).

Large Ri...Hi!
While I was investigating a bug on Large Richard (https://0xacab.org/jvoisin/mat2/issues/67 - the job works on Whitewhale and not on Large Richard), I saw that we are running 2 pretty different versions of `gitlab-runner`:
Large Richard:
* `gitlab-runner`: 11.3.0
* `docker-ce`: 18.06.1~ce~3-0~debian
Whitewhale:
* `gitlgitlab-ci-multi-runner`: 9.5.1
* `docker-ce`: ??
I don't think the docker version matters a lot, but I'm not sure having a 2 major Gitlab version difference between the runners is a good idea.
I'm using the upstream Gitlab and Docker packages since the Debian ones are lacking... I'm also upgrading them automatically with `unattended-upgrades`.https://0xacab.org/riseup/0xacab/-/issues/59Please increase my project/repo limit2018-10-09T20:59:53ZPonchoPlease increase my project/repo limitWould it be possible to increase my project/repo limit? This is Anne from Electric Embers. Everything has been going swimmingly with our use of the 0xacab gitlab projects and we've generally been loving it. But as of the week of 11/12, I'm having a problem using 'git push' from our saltmaster.electricembers.net machine to the "IaC" project in our "EE" group on 0xacab.org. I don't see these same errors when pushing from other servers of ours, and I had been able to push successfully from this very same machine before the problem started (sometime around 11/12).

The curl pkg is at version 7.62.0 and it looks like it was updated on 11/12. hmmm. but the other server where i was able to run git push successfully also has the same version of curl installed.
Do the errors above mean anything to you and/or do you have any idea how we can fix them?
Thank you!

**Suggested change:**
- Provide contextual information on what a provider is and is why I need one to use the vpn in an introductory paragraph
- Provide a list of good providers and contextual information on each one to help make a choice (e.g. show the list from https://bitmask.net/#providers)
- Set a smart default provider to avoid the need for new users to guess which would be best for them
- Provide an option to enter your own choice of provider for when you have a better option and understand what you're doing

I'd like to move a personal `AGPL`'d project from my employers infrastructure to here, because:
1. it feels relevant here
1. `0xacab` seems a better place for it
1. there are people interested in contributing, but giving them access to our work infra is a no-go
The project in question is [Samizdat](https://git.occrp.org/libre/samizdat/).
The other project I have here is still relevant and I would prefer not having to kill it.

RiseupVPN version Debian-0.19.11
Most times it doesn't make VPN connection at first and doesn't select the gateway location properly only after another tryout/s, i noticed that on the Menu i also get the gateway's names triplicated or duplicated, i can see by IP that there are different "Gateway Locations" but the thing is that on that list it says "Paris, Paris, Paris", "Amsterdam, Amsterdam" or other and the "User" on the GUI Menu cannot distinguish them at start what is being selected on what Gateway, a name like "Paris-Something" should be there to identify the Gateway, or if preferred like Paris-IPAddress, in my case i would prefer to see there an IP Address in a format like Paris-X.X.X.X since when i connect i can also check the IP of the Gateway as well, independently something should be there to not confuse users and distinguish the Gateway Locations.
Another error i noticed on the Menu is that sometimes(happens occasionally only) when i also issue "riseup-vpn -obfs4 -select-gateway" on the Menu part where all gateway names exist bellow "Route Traffic Through-> to the -> Help" it collapses the Menu Window and i have UP/Down Arrows but the Menu Window is so closed i can barely see any name inside the drop-down-list or scroll to exit.
If possible would be nice to check the code.
I would also like to add the idea that on that Menu be there a "report bug" feature on the list in this case with a link to https://0xacab.org/ if that makes any sense.
Would be nice if some more users could give an input on this to see if this is not just my case.

When a node detects a radio transmission, it'll upload data to a server which will combine the direction-of-arrival information from several nodes to provide a location fix. From there, it can choose to send push notifications to people nearby who have opted in to notifications, aggregate data for later use, or a variety of other things. This project will need a group and probably a couple different repos. Hardware, firmware and backend software at least.
I have a couple prototypes but nothing solid yet so this is still in the design validation stage.https://0xacab.org/riseup/0xacab/-/issues/101repo limit increase2020-10-31T17:22:02ZMike Tigasrepo limit increase```

I'm using the shared runners to execute Cypress E2E test (in parallel).
Occasionally I run into an `ENOSPC: System limit for number of file watchers reached` error which makes my test fail.
A similar problem is described here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/58189187/how-to-solve-system-limit-for-number-of-file-watchers-reached-issue-when-using
As far as I understand the issue you need to change the max file watchers on the shared runners itself when using the docker executor.
Could you increase that limit if you haven't already?

If I go to CI settings, everything seems ok.
Can you help us? This is pretty urgent for us, because the hackmeeting started just 2 hours ago, and we were relying on it quite a bit.
Thanks for what you do!https://0xacab.org/riseup/0xacab/-/issues/113New group and repository2022-05-09T15:18:04ZboyskaNew group and repositoryHello!

Would you mind allowing me to create a group and one or two repositories inside that group?

For self-hosted gitlab instances a [gitlab kubernetes agent server (KAS)](https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/administration/clusters/kas.html) needs to get installed.
Could you consider installing it ? The old way of [connecting a k8s cluster to gitlab using certificates is deprecated](https://about.gitlab.com/blog/2021/11/15/deprecating-the-cert-based-kubernetes-integration/) and will get removed soon.

Is there any reason why this is disabled ? It would save quite a bit of disk space if enabled.https://0xacab.org/riseup/0xacab/-/issues/122Create more repos?2022-04-04T21:19:28ZIMC NantesCreate more repos?Hi,

We're a still active Indymedia and are rebooting since our server died a few month ago after many years of services.
Our static archives are on https://dev.nantes.indymedia.org/ if you're wondering to see (yes, hyperactive!).
To reboot we're switching to wordpress and hacking around to have it being usable for an IMC.
We'd need to be able to host a few repos more here to go on and share what we've done. We currently have two repos hosted here but already using six in the project. May we host them too here? And if so, a tad more may help not to ask too often if needed. How does that sound to you?
thanks,
IMC Nantes
