Can openvpn status file use format 1 instead of 3?

Hi,

riseup is currently using a munin plugin to track connected the number of vpn users (tcp+udp) (there is a lot of data on munin, also other non-leap vpn servers, so it's good to have it there). for this to work we use status-version 1 instead of 3.

if there is no specific reason to use version 3, can platform use version 1 by default?
