blank systray icon

I'm running Max OSX Catalina 10.15.7 and tested the new beta .dmg for mac.

When I started the app, the no icon was shown in the systray. It might be related to the fact that I wasn't able to connect to the vpn? It seems like I'm in a blocking state as you can see in the screenshot. If I'm tapping on reconnect, the yellow icon appears (without animation).
