bitmask wants to configure your mail but no official support yet

It's been reported that users find confusing that xul-ext-bitmask (and therefore thunderbird) gets installed alongside bitmask, specially given that there's no public provider supporting mail yet.

From jessie on, apt installs recommended packages by default http://linux.koolsolutions.com/2009/01/07/howto-tell-apt-get-not-to-install-recommends-packages-in-debian-linux/.

So, for now I would just remove the recommended xul-ext-bitmask, and revisit this issue after we do an official release with support for LEAP Mail.
