The Greeter keeps eating lots of memory after logging in

The test suite started failing on feature/stretch in Jenkins (#12088 (closed)) once we’ve merged the new Greeter in there. I’ve noticed that a full GNOME session is kept running as the Debian-gdm user once one has logged in. This seems like a big waste of memory. Can we somehow free that RAM, to keep supporting older hardware?

As part of this, revert 895387ece8cec86831cd617ee08dbdfc49cdc144.

Feature Branch: bugfix/12092-kill-gdm-session-after-login+force-all-tests
