Working on first two sections

the one where we start to make the document look more like an actual academic paper

... I've been reworking the citations and think there really needs to be a consensus on what to make the body of work look like in the "end." It should look a lot more professional and less jumpy and erratic. I see a ton of wasted space in the paper for no reason, I don't mean to offend but it looks bad to view this in PDF format when it doesn't need to be so large and it only takes an hour to go through and remove the spacing where it doesn't need to be. Just my opinion.

  • remove useless spacing in Preface and Introduction sections
  • a few refs shortened and some rewritten to be more descriptive
