From afe67f80c50d3de6fbb889f7209f59d31c5db4b9 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Malin Freeborn <malinfreeborn@posteo.net> Date: Wed, 3 Jan 2024 00:00:19 +0100 Subject: [PATCH] massive glossary expansion This wider format should allow the glossary to sit at the front of books, and introduce the key concepts. Each book should stand alone, to a degree, so the glossary can help bridge that gap. The wider glossary should also act as a primer for the rest of the book - it will be the first thing people read as they open the book. --- glossary.tex | 141 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++-------------------- 1 file changed, 87 insertions(+), 54 deletions(-) diff --git a/glossary.tex b/glossary.tex index cbc68bb7..cac00f9f 100644 --- a/glossary.tex +++ b/glossary.tex @@ -51,7 +51,7 @@ name={The Judge}, text={Judge}, sort={Judge}, - description={runs the game, interprets the rules, and forgets to bring enough pencils}, + description={rolls encounters, interprets the rules, and forgets to bring enough pencils}, } \newglossaryentry{storypoint}{ @@ -71,21 +71,20 @@ } \newglossaryentry{boon}{ - prefix={a\space}, - name={A Concoction}, + name={Concoctions}, text={concoction}, + prefix={a\space}, sort={concoction}, - description={is a liquid or powder which, when thrown in the air, hyper-charges the use of a single Sphere, for anyone present next to the burst. - For example, a concoction to boost the Air Sphere would mean a caster with Air 2 could cast a single spell as if they had Air 3. - The first spell cast, uses up the effect, although some powders have enough for multiple spells} + description={are liquids or powders which, when thrown in the air, hyper-charge the use of a single magic Sphere, for anyone present next to the burst. + For example, a concoction to boost the Air Sphere would mean a caster with Air 2 could cast a single spell as if they had Air 3}, } \newglossaryentry{ingredient}{ - prefix={a\space}, name={Ingredients}, text={ingredient}, - description={let casters create a magical \glsentrytext{talisman}, which casts a spell. - Earth ingredients go into an Earth \glsentrytext{talisman}, Fire ingredients go into a Fire \glsentrytext{talisman}, and so on} + prefix={an\space}, + description={are substances with elemental affinities, used for powerful magical effects. + A griffin's feathers may boost Air magic, or a bear's heart may be used to create a Fire \glsentrytext{talisman}} } \newglossaryentry{talisman}{ @@ -101,7 +100,7 @@ \newglossaryentry{artefact}{ prefix={an\space}, - name={Artifacts}, + name={Artefacts}, text={artefact}, description={are spells given sentience, and function as long-term magical items.
